Customer does not want to use the Vodavi door box. So question being: Is there any way or anything that i could do to put a simple doorbell button at the front door and make it ring on the phones throughout the house? They don't like the big and bulky factor of the Doorbox whether it be the vodavi or a viking unit.

Let me know if you guys know of anything.

If you have access to the existing doorbell system's button wires, you could use them to switch the output of a ring generator (Viking PS48RG)into a vacant CO port on the STS. Assign a unique ring tone to this CO and mark it as outgoing only in programming. Then, just program that CO line to ring wherever you want.

Doorbell buttons aren't usually rated to handle the 90+ voltage of a ring generator, so to do this safely, you should use the button to control a slave relay that actually switches the ring generator output into the CO port.

Thank ED!

I actually found something at Mike Sandman that will work. But as i was thinking about it i thought of the same thing you did with the Voltage. But i got to speak with Mike him self and he told me to put 300 ohm resistor in line with one of the leads of the doorbell itself in case that someone would hold it down it would blow the resistor. The unit is call Door Bell Fon and it looks pretty slick also known as the Worlds best door bell system!!!!! ha ha ha atleast thats what it says on the website!!

No problem. Everything Mike sells is "world's best", but then again, it usually is.
