I'm completely new to Vodavi and XTS, but I've got Norstan, Octel, Executone, and Siemens in my past, so I have hope.
I need to administer our XTS-IP, and while I've been managing these past months (mostly by moving punchdowns), it's time for me to audit the messes I've probably made, and to get a real understanding of the system.
I've got Telnet access to the switch, and I've got XTS-IP_Admin21_22 installed on my laptop (and the usual other tools, hypertrm, procomm, etc).
The Telnet method is apparently just a phone with a big scrolling display (sweet!), but I'm told the XTSadmin interface will let me get a better idea of what I'm looking at.
Problem is, XTSadmin wants me to point it to a database location. Where?
I notice there is no router address configured on my switch on the screens under Flash 46 (the screens following the IP address). Would adding that configuration then make the database location available to browse?

I think I get it (not where I can test this at the moment, but...), I need to download a database, copy the file to where the XTSadmin software is, then point XTSadmin to the file. Correct?

I had never heard of XTSadmin until your post. Honestly, I can't keep up with Vodavi's constantly changing updates. I prefer to just use "flash-XX"programming.
While it's great to get more features, we end up having to start using yet another management program. Existing files aren't carried over to updated versions. It's not worth it We only work with WINDBA V5.13 and only if we have to. We still have the DOS version running since we have many customers using systems not supported by current WinDBA versions.
I say that you should just get really friendly with the real programming method and handle backups and printouts that way using a basic terminal program.

Thorn, XTS admin is a great tool. What you need to do is open a new file. select what processor you are using. put in the password and at the c;\xtsipadmin~2you must use a \ and the file you want to name it. Hope this helps.

i agree with Ed. About the only time i use it is when it is a new install and i have a bunch of DID programming other than that i could prob. have the whole switch programmed by the time WinDba opens up and you download a file into it let alone some of the bugs it has caused me. So i personally am like Ed i will only use terminal access unless otherwise noted.
but to answer your question: do as XTS tech said enter a \(SITE NAME)\(DATE). That way you have the site then within the site you have the dated files
