We all like to work with what we know best. That's the case here as well. We have always used Vodavi's Talkpath/Dispatch or the Pathfinder turnkey systems for voice mail.
Under mounting pressure from customers, we have reluctantly started selling the Pathfinder In-Skin voice mail. In two installations, they have been very difficult. The installation wizard locks up and doesn't do the automatic setup like it should, so we have had to manually enter all mailboxes in both installations. That takes forever.
I am also disappointed that this card detracts from station port capacity in the KSU, unlike the in-skin voice mail for the STSe.
I am surprised because the Pathfinder that operates in an external PC is very stable and it does well. We have worked with them for years.
I am hoping that it's just our inexperience with the in-skin version. Any feedback you may have about this product will be greatly appreciated. I don't want to NOT sell the product just because we don't understand it.

Ed,
You should update that to the latest rev on the Pathfinder IS and use the ethernet port. You will need the latest version IsAdmin as well. It makes it a lot faster and less painless. There is also a way to install VNC on the P-IS so that you can VNC to it and use the MAINT. Vodavi does not support it but if you are interested I can email you a doc on how to do this or give me a call and i can explain further.

I have not sold one. Is it simular to the STS HDD VM (obvisously with more ports and more features)? I also use VNC on the STS HDD and use MAINT.

oobie, could I get a copy of that doc?
I've got a system I can't seem to get into over the serial, keep getting 'Error #430', maybe a dozen times as it tries to touch things. It seems to be downloading the database just fine, but that does me no good unless I can touch it afterward.
If ethernet is known as a good method to admin this beastie, then sign me up.

In our most recent installation attempt, the card apparently ended up being bad. It took them two days to reach this conclusion and a KSU software upgrade. We have decided to go with the turnkey Pathfinder instead.

Thorn, if you call Vodavi And get the latest version of software for the Pathfinder IS and latestes version of IsAdmin for IP administration you should be set. If you would still like to throw VNC on the IS i can send you a doc but like i said it is not supported and can cause some issues.
Ed, Sorry to hear that, I have had 1 of the STS inskin HDD be bad out of the box and several die after a long time running and i have also seen some wierd things happen if you change the time on the KSU and do a reboot that the damn thing won't come up. you have to connect a keyboard, mouse, and monitor to it and hit ctrl+alt+del to get it to boot and then restart it so it syncs to the time on the KSU.

Ed, Also sorry you did not like IS voice mail. I've installed two. I used the wizard without success the first time. I upgraded my laptop to one with a built in serial port and everything has been good since then. It sure does seem to have a touchy serial connection. ted
