We have a Ranger cordless phone on an XTSc version 3.00-2fe3.
We are having an intermittant problem with the cordless not ceasing to ring on incoming calls even though the call was answered at a desk
phone. We cannot duplicate by making test calls, it just randomly happens.
We have had to unplug the phone from AC power, remove the battery,
etc. to finally get it to stop ringing.

We have double checked to make sure that the line cord between the wall and base unit is a 2 pin even though it came with a 4 pin.
We have defaulted the station port.
We swapped out the Ranger base and cordless and problem continues.

We swapped the port, it was ext 107 and is now 104.
We removed the Ranger from direct ring in and put a ringing call coverage button on it for ext 100.

Is it possible there is a bug in the version that is causing this??
Is there something else to try?

Bump!

Sorry, but we've never sold the Ranger. Hopefully someone else will chime in soon.

Sorry, but I haven't had any trouble with any of the ones that I have sold, but most are on STSe systems with gold software. Only one is on an XTS-IP with FP3 and I haven't heard anything bad about it yet.

I've only had one problem with installing one, but it was on an existing XTS with 2.00 software. We couldn't do the upgrade to 3.00 due to a firmware incompatibility on the MPB, so we just ended up taking it back. It wasn't worth the expense to the customer.

Does it do it all by itself-in other words when it's not actually recieving a call, just out of the blue? Also, what kind of environment is it in? Have you ever had any kind of RFI problems on that site. You might try grounding the unused pairs on the cable that feeds the ranger either at the block or at the jack.

Just as a heads up in case anyone does run across this problem. It seems that removing it from direct ring in has solved the problem. As far as I can tell, the customer was getting intermittant spikes in the ring voltage that created the problem.
Thanks for all the input though

I hope your problem is solved but I don't think it could have been caused by unusualy high or even long ring cycles from thr cenral office. There is not a direct conection between the cordless (or any other phone) and the co line. the line card in the KSU detects ring current and then sends the information to the phones via the processor and digital station cards. My guess would be a glitch in the the program (KSU not being defaulted) a problem with the Ranger Cordless or another wireless device like a wireless router causing the problem.
