I have a customer that has an old Mach 1 install date I don't know, it was done long ago before we came into this area. But a couple of the phones (30 buttons) are paging other phones by themselves. They may show up in the morning and the phones have pages another one. I had heard that it could be fixed by grounding unused pairs which I did last time. However this is a rare occurance, happened last year, then a few months ago and now over the weekend. I just got a call that it has done it again, and it's always the same two extensions. This being a problem I haven't really run into I'm not sure what the entire problem is and how to resolve it. Any suggestions would be great, thanks.

I'd start by removing the DSS appearances of the other extensions as a temporary measure. This will rule out a defective phone or port problem. I wouldn't ground the other pairs if I were you since the second pair in those phones is "hot" to interface with the Wanderer handset.

What I had come up with from vodavi was to only use one pair from the 66 up to the jack and also use a single pair line cord. They said then to take the unused pairs at the 66 and ground them, that they could be picking up interference from something nearby, somehow causing the phones to say page another phone. There is only one phone that has DSS appearances in the office and that phone has never done it. But like I said this comes up once in a blue moon, it never happens when someone is around.

The single pair theory only works until the customer replaces a line cord when they move their furniture around. You shouldn't be required by a manufacturer to alter a standard USOC or EIA/TIA wiring pattern with the wiring of your jacks.
Most of our original Mach 1's are starting to exhibit strange behavior due to a failing memory retention battery. This may very well be your issue. Replacing the KSU with an STSe (gold version) would be a cheap way to replace the KSU while retaining the phones if necessary.
***Edit: The gold version of KSU or upgrade software is only available to gold level dealers. My apologies for misleading anyone***
I know that this is a bit of a stretch, but have you tried doing an R SXXX for the station ports in the CONFIG utility? It might be worth a try. If nothing else, start an E Trace and leave a laptop connected capturing the file for a day or so to see what happens in the system when this occurs.
I really don't buy the "interference from something nearby" thing. These phones are digital and that would be mighty difficult to recreate if it was occurring at all. I do have one last question though: Are there any Nextel phones in use on the premises? They have been known to whack out a few systems when used in close proximity to a system phone.

I agree that the interference is a reach. I'm leaning more toward the system just getting old, stranger things have happened. The building is an old brick house converted to an office so there shouldn't be too much coming thru the walls.
We don't have nextel available out here in the boonies, so I know that isn't it. I would myself like to get them into a new STS but it's been working great for them for a long time, other than this paging issue every five or six months, then it goes away.

The DTIB that the stations come off of is going bad. I had the same thing happen with a XTS DTIB 24. It was bad out of the box. Swap cards and the problem should follow the ports.

This is a Mach 1 with the expansion card and the ports are on the main board so if that's going bad sounds like they would just be better off with something new like an STSe. Small office with five lines and seven extentions.
