Have a minivoice (older software about 6 yrs old)
that receives alot of msgs but some appear to be hangups or disconnects.

I deleted and rebuilt the box.
Fewer instances but still msgs in box that are just hangups.

Appears to be happening on 2 mailboxes only.
You know how it is with end user info....It can be wrong. They arent complaining about any other boxes besides these 2 ext.

I know they are getting some hangups because of a generally older clientel that despise AA.

This is a flash type vm and has no HDD to fail as best I can recollect.

Its connected to a DS2000 or the large DS1000.

Any ideas on how I might correct this issue?

Make sure that you are receiving open loop disconnect when the outside calling party hangs up. Then, make sure it's being detected by the DS and translated into a disconnect signal that the Mini Voice can understand. A string of four or five "*'s" is more than sufficient.

It may appear that there are only two mailboxes with this problem, but more than likely they are just the only two that receive callers after hours.

Remember that the Mini Voice doesn't have the ability to route callers who don't dial anything. All routing must be done via a touch tone entry, or by in-band signaling. With that being said, the callers must be doing something to reach those mailboxes, either by dialing the extensions or dialing a private line associated with them.

If the DS disconnects immediately after a caller hangs up then it is for sure getting the disconnect signal.

The callers are using a one touch menu to get to an ext.

It shows in the hang-up code field 2 statements.

1. when pbx code is about to close (ex.an outside caller has hung up) a digit string is sent to the vm system.

2. If this string matches the entry in this field, the system save any messages being recordedand the the port closes and waits for the next call.

Im interpreting this to say is that if the string sent by the pbx matches what is in this field it will save any messages being recorded and release the port.

If so then I have to figure out how to make it disconnect without saving the msgs.

Yes I think its system wide issue.

I dont know....HECK I cant even spell Vodavi.

actually, this brings to mind a problem i've been having with one of my sites... it's an old 2856 with a 4-port analog Mini. it seems a few mailboxes have gotten corrupted or something - they play the greeting but hang up immediately afterward. i've gotten them back in business by moving the user to an unused mailbox and changing their VMID to match, but there've been a couple of 'em now and i'm worried the Mini may have some sort of hardware problem. it's still under warranty from Novus so i was going to replace it but i'd love to hear from anyone who has seen this problem before.
