Ok so having major problems still with this pri. Pri provider is swearing to client its not them and it has to be us. Im trying to exhaust every option possible. I have been thru all the programming with 5 different techs from vertical. I have changed out the ksu. I also tested the t1 card with tech support on the phone and they said its good. Even had the provider out to test on site. Still having problems.
So heres the problems or problem lol! Customers are calling complaining that they cant get thru. Somtimes its a busy signal or sometimes its a fast busy signal. Some have even gotten "You are unauthorized to use this (somthing I dont remember). All the complaining they do you would think its happening all the time. Never once could I duplicate when on site to troubleshoot. Also they are saying that customers are complaining that when they call in it will sound like someone picked up and they can hear the secretary on the phone giving out quotes but the secretary cant hear them. Sounds like copper cross talk to me there.
So this is were Im at now. I would like to know if any of you awesome techs could explain to me how to use etrace to make sure the providers channels are matching up with my channels on the card. I was told this could be possible and in turn creating my problems. Anyone have any ideas or any pointers on using etrace. I have never had to dig into a system this far thank god. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

One phrase: Soft Switch. This is a huge problem that affects all brands of systems. CLECs and LECs are using VoIP for their mode of transmission to save money. That's fine on their end, but they aren't maintaining the national ISDN standards on our end.
The problem is, most systems don't like it. I've been given verbal confirmation from high-level Vodavi/Vertical support people that the STS and XTS systems do not work with PRI's served by IP switches. I even had to interrupt the recent installation of our own PRI because I asked the question about VoIP. I'm glad that I asked. They put our service on a "real" switch.
Just to keep your sanity, I'm pretty sure that this problem is a result of the format of name/number CID delivery. Apparently, soft switches send more characters in the name field than real (compliant) switches do. This confuses the STS and causes all kinds of strange stuff to happen.
Try it for yourself: Have the service provider remove name delivery and I think that your STS will work fine.
Until the service providers start following the appropriate standards, this will keep happening. Nobody is enforcing the FCC mandated standards anymore, so we have to just figure out how to work around them.
When you have some time, use this site's search tool above and you'll find plenty of information on soft switches. You will need to know this in the future.

Thanks Ed! I will double check but I have allready asked that. They are using real switches. I believe they said it was on a Nortel. Cant remember witch one they said. But then again they could have just been saying this. This Clec has a horrible reputation around here.

Have them reprogram the Nortel to emulate a #5ESS.

Ed's explanation is right on the money. I went through the exact same situation about a month ago (posted on this site) with an XTS and Genband soft swich. After we changed out the new PRI combo board for a PRIB the issues were resolved. After the fact I went back to that same CLEC who we have a great relationship with and did some testing - That soft switch was sending out so much CID info it overwhelmed the system. Good Luck working with your CLEC - Historically I haven't had much luck. :bang:
