About 2 weeks ago we had a 4 port talkpath system crash, the hard drive failed. We replaced the entire unit and loaded a back up database. Yesterday, the customer called because the system was not working again. When I got on site, I found that all the menu programming was blank. None of yhe info was there, not even any of the default menus. Worked with tech support to get the default menus back in place and then reprogrammed the menu info. All was working well. Today the customer called back and now they are getting intermittent messages with static/chopped audio. So far it has happened with 3 mailboxes, but I have not been able to duplicate. Am I looking at another bad HD or possibly corrupted database?
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

What caused the unit to crash and did you check the analog adapters? Are the greetings ok? If so, then randomly re-record the greetings to see if they become choppy. Also try hooking an analog phone to the adapters and make some intercom calls.
Good luck, Bob

The system is a digital talkpath on an XTS system. So far the system greetings and the mailbox greetings have been fine. Just new messages have had a problem.

When you installed the hard drive, did you do a REINIT command via E-com? I'm wondering if the replacement drive might have just had some garbage on it.

I did not do the REINIT command from E-com so that is a possibility. The problem has returned so I'm on my way back to site to do that and reprogram the database.

As it turns out, it was another bad hard drive. I went on site and tried to do a REINIT and it would never boot back up.

If it is a Toshiba hard drive, then yes, it does happen more than twice. Even the factory replacement drives that were made by Toshiba are notorious for premature failure.
