Now that there's an understanding of the "bad" dialtone through lightspan/fios has anyone hooked up a SBX to Comcast (cable) dialtone. I have a customer who's looking to upgrade their system but I honestly don't want to go through the same thing again with the SBX if I know there's going to be an issue. Thanks.

I have many offices with ESI systems hooked up to Cablevision Voip dial tones, & I have had no issues to date. Comcast in NJ are way behind as they can't offer up to 12 lines in a hunt as of yet.

I havnt done the comcast supplied dialtone for the sbx yet but have done it on xts. The comcast dialtone works for the xts but the problem is it doesnt send loop supervision. They will swear up and down that they do but they dont. For each person that says they do there will be two people that have no clue what your talking about. When a customer tells us they are going to comcast we pretty much beg them not to just to avoid the problems. LOL its worked so far!!!

We have installed the xts with comcast lines, and we had the same problem with loop supervision. We had to purchase "howler" boxes that listen for the hangup tone and hang up the line. Once we put the boxes in we had no problems. You can get more info from Mike Sandman at sandman.com. I think the boxes cost about $50 per co line.

Just remember that this is not an issue with the system, it is with the service provider. Make sure that the customer understands this too, because it would be doing the same thing with any system regardless of brand.

Also, keep track of these customers so that when Comcast finally does hire someone who knows what they are doing, you can get them all fixed at once.
