Anyone have any luck getting the Speed Dial Editor working on the SBX IP 320?

The copy I have fails to connect, I inquired about it several months ago, was sent firmware version VD78P-1.0Cf FEB/08 for the SBX with I'm currently running on my demo switch, but it still doesn't work.

I've contacted tech. support again (Toni) and she said she'd have to test versions against it. That's what she said 3 months ago!

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Dave

I've used the Speed Editor on the SBX a couple of times. The one thing I recall is that you cannot be already connected to the SBX through PCAdmin when you try to connect through the Speed Dial Editor.

Did you check the LAN setting when you tried to connect? The IP Address needs to be inputted / selected each time you connect (it will save a list of entries). The LAN setting is on the pop-up box when you choose to connect.

How are you opening the program? The shortcut for the editor in PCAdmin needs to be setup - that's why I asked.

The editor version I have is A.0Aa

Fixed!!

Here’s the deal...

Both of my test PC’s had a “SonicWALL Virtual Adapter” installed as I use both PC’s for remote support of secure networks. Well as you might guess with this adapter enabled Speed Editor will NOT connect to the SBX IP 320. I stumbled on this fact when I copied the Speed Editor to a 3rd PC running Vista and it worked. Comparing the configurations I found the VPN adapter on both XP machines and not on the Vista PC.

Simply right-clicking and temporarily disabling the VPN adapter allowed the Speed Editor to connect to the switch and operate as expected.

At first I thought it might be something with the switch because looking at the initial interface which prompts you for an IP address it lists the port as 6000 (grayed out). However if you do a port scan on the switch that port is not open, leading me to believe the port was closed, hence something wrong with the switch.

I believe the grayed out port 6000 is bogus and not used at all as Speed Editor works on one of the following ports which are open when scanned.

21 ftp
23 telnet
5002 rfe
5103 custom

Hope this helps someone.

Dave

Where did you get the speed editor? I have the SBX software installed but it doesn't seem to have the software built in.

It may be on the ccc - I'd check there first - but they may not have posted it yet. If it's not there, check with tech support.
