We have an old Starplus system and with just one station we have an issue with the odd voicemail being up to 12 hours late on delivery on occasion. This is not a backlog of all messages but a delay of one (usually important) message. Occurs a couple times a week.
I've deleted/rebuilt the VM extension and replaced the phone but that made no difference. The vm configuration is default- a simple transfer, nothing complicated for vm to get lost in. Of course, this user is one of the VIPs of the company and is making a stink.
I'm up for any suggestions on what could be going wrong here. I'm a past Definity administrator and don't really 'get' the Vodavi system, although I get it enough to administer on a power-user level.
I'm also looking for a new telecom vendor in the Mid-Hudson Valley of NY, since our current vendor is apparently too busy to call us. Referrals are welcome.

Late message delivery is a common problem. It tends to happen to the boxes that get the most messages. All ports are busy when a message is left so there is no way for the system to turn on a light. It will stack up the notifications but sometimes it just forgets. The message cleanup utility runs at 1 AM and the system does a "oops" check, and turns on the light.

You may also consider upgrading the vm software. You will need an authorized technician to do this.

Two things you need to do here.
As Derrick noted, don't trust the message waiting lights. Call collision may well prevent them from turning on or off. If you take the last voice mail port and put it in DND it will prevent call collision with the message lamp setting. The biggest reason by far, change the message retrieval option to "first in, first out". This has resolved the issue almost 100% of the time. I don't care what the station user says, they don't pick up all their messages when they retrieve them. Setting the message order so they must listen to all their old messages before they can pick up their new one usually fixes this issue.
