I am working on a Vodavi Starplus SPD 2856 FP3 system for the church my wife works for. Is there a way to call forward an intercom call or an outside line transferred to an extension to vmail on a ring no answer or busy condition? I have read the manual and it does mention call forwarding ring no answer and busy but that is all. I can get an outside line, through preset forwarding, to go to vmail. It has been a very long time since I have done and install on a key system so I am sure I will need some refresher.

Try the code 6407440 for setting a call forward for an extension to vm. Hope this helps.

The only way for an intercom call to forward to voice mail is if the phone is set to the ring mode for intercom calls. This is done by placing the "H-T-P" switch in the "T" position. The problem in doing so is that they will lose the hands-free answer on intercom feature.

Once you have made that decision and you truly want busy/no answer forwarding to voice mail, you can use 640+9+440, but I wouldn't advise it. Dr. PBX's suggestion of no answer forwarding is best, since this will at least allow the call to be presented before it forwards to voice mail.

By the way, if you want to cancel this forwarding, just dial 640 alone.

Gentlemen,

Thank you for the information. I am very sorry I have not resond back sooner. Everything worked out well. The user said they could work around the tone ringing only.

Now another question. Can I send a line that rings on a particular extension to that extension's voice mailbox? Will I need to do any digit translation to go to the voice mail box?

When I read the manual I am a little fuzzy on it.

If a line rings exclusively at that extension, then the forwarding method discussed will work, but only on a no-answer condition. There is no way for a busy CO line to forward on any brand of system.

You can always answer any CO line and forward it to a station's mailbox directly by answering the call, pressing the trans button, then dialing 440 plus the extension (mailbox) number.

Thank you for responding. After looking further into the programming I found this line was ring on two extensions. The user opted to for go this line going to vmail. That solved this problem rather quickly.
