Has anyone encountered a system lockup with the Vodavi Mach 1 system. I have a Vodavi Mach 1 system ver. 3.09 with about 15 active phones and a 4 port Vodavi Talk Path voicemail system. In the last couple of months I have had the system lockup where all of the phones are displaying the time apparently when the system froze, some of the CO buttons along with certain DSS buttons are lit as well, same buttons on everyones phone. None of the buttons on the phones will work and if you reset an individual phone it will only come up showing the ver number of the system and never initialize. When plugging into one of the RS232 ports on the bottom of the KSU you cannot enter program mode, hitting the enter key does nothing. Once a hard reset is performed on the cabinets, this has an expansion cabinet, then everything starts working again, any suggestions on what might be causing this problem would be appreciated, thanks in advance.

Sounds like it could possibly be a battery problem. The Mach one has been out there quite a few years and the battery is probably failing.

If there is a brownout or surge with power, it is enough to scramble the database. The system I was working with didn't have a UPS.

I replaced the soldered battery and never had my problem again.

Thanks A6 for taking a look at my problem. Yes this system has been working for 8 or 9 years easy. There has been some construction in the building during the course of the last outage however I don't seem to see any issues with the program, all looks intact and once I did the hard system reset everything came back up like normal. I'm thinking if the power was interrupted and the database got scrambled wouldn't I see programming errors? The KSU is plugged into a small UPS as well but as old as the system is. One thing I noticed today is that the phone room has a small celing fan to keep the room cool and it has been out of service, with the temps running high this month around here I wonder if the equipment got too hot would it cause it to lock up like that?
