My customer has a Vodavi Triad 5000 with 12 c.o. lines and digital voice mail. The first 3 lines are shorted and seeemingly off hook condition. When I unplug the system from power and test the c.o. lines, they come back to dial tone. I plugged the power back in and the c.o. lines go back into shorted / off hook condition.
This is only on the first 3 lines, so I am supposing that the basic ksu portion of this system has gone bad.
Should I replace the basic ksu or just the c.o. line board that contains the first 3 lines, or are they one and the same?
Thanks in advance.

Are the lines' LEDs lit? If not, then yes, you probably have a bad 3X8 card. You can replace just that card in the base cabinet without replacing the processor. In doing so, you also won't lose the system's programming. Of course, this will need to be done with the system's power off.
Do as much preparatory work as you can with the power on because these systems are notorious for having a bad memory battery by now. Keeping the power off for as little as possible will save you the potential headache of losing the system's database.

thanks for the help. Suppliers are telling me I have to purchase the whole basic ksu and not just the 3 x 8 card. I'm glad you responded and gave me some good info! Thanks again!

ps. just talked to my supplier again and mentioned the replacing of the 3 x 8 card only, he double checked and said that was absolutely correct!
I think you just saved me hours and hours of programming (since I'm not too keen on Vodavi) so....Thank you sooooo much!

No problem at all. Check back if you need further assistance, but it sounds like you'll be fine. It is just four screws and two ribbon cables to change out the card. Just remember that the one you need to change is the one on the bottom.

And if you want to confirm if this is indeed the problem - as it very much appears to be, simply swap the EKSU top 3x8 (lines 10-12) with the BKSU bottom 3x8 (lines 1-3) and while you are waiting for a replacement to arrive, you will have restored lines 1-3 to service.

Please start a new post. But try to dial any extension connected to the VM. If it doesn't answer then, you have other issues.
