I am wanting to monitor the activity of a couple XTS phone systems. I can hook up to the system that we have here in the office and see everything that goes on. We have 2 customers that we hook up to the same way as in the office, but we get nothing in Hyperterminal. I have read that if the ICLID uses Port 1 then Hyperterminal will not work. I have verified that one of the systems uses Port 1. What I can not find is what the other ports are and what they could be used for. I would like to change the port that the ICLID uses so I can use Hyperterminal on port 1, but I don't want to stop something else from working if it is on the port I put the ICLID on.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Are you using external caller id? If not then you should be able to use port 1. Most XTS systems utilize caller id through the c.i.d. daughter board on the co line card. Does the system have a misc. card with additional serial ports? If so use those.

Thank you for the reply. They are not using external CID. Both systems have MISC cards but they do not have serial ports on them. One system is using Port 3 for the ICLID, but the port settings were wrong on port 1, so I changed them. If I hook up hyperterminal to the MPB1 and hit ENTER it prompts me for a password, but I can not monitor the activity of the system. The only thing that is different between the systems is that they both have PRI's and the one we have at the shop still uses POT's lines.

I am not sure what you mean monitor the activity. Are you talking about doing an etrace? If you are, then you do not log in to the system with the standard log in to do remote programming. If you check the XTS manual it will lay out the steps to do an etrace. I cant get into detail on message boards but an etrace will show you every call made and taken by the XTS and how it is handled. If you are looking to check the status of the cards in the system that is a different diagnostic. Again, I am not sure what you are aiming for here. Hope this helps point you in the right direction.

If you are able to get to the screen that says "enter password", then you should be able to get raw smdr data through the same port. Do you have smdr turned on and pointed to the right port? Also, if you aren't using an external caller id then it isn't using any port. Your pri card is doing the job.

I checked the system. SMDR is turned on and is pointed at the correct port, but I am still not able to view anything other then "Enter Password". I can unhook my laptop from that computer, drive to the office and hook it up to the system we have here and I can view everything that happens on our system. I am starting to wonder if it is a bad MPB1. The system I am trying to connect to is getting phantom calls from "conf", but no extensions are labeled "conf" in the system or in the VM system.

What do you have the call qualifier timer set at( fl. 01 butt 16 )? Default is 30 seconds. You may want to shorten that. Also, by default, SMDR is not enabled and is set to record long distance calls only. Check fl. 21 button 2 to enable / disable all calls. Hope this helps.

Sorry, just messing around with my pic. I obviously need a smaller pic.
