Got a customer who does NOT want the installing company back to service the system. Installing company changed admin password and will not give it to the customer.
Is there a back door into the system? Tech support says the customer MUST go back to the installing dealer. Doesn't seem right.
Any solution out there???
Thanks

Unfortunately, there isn't any kind of back door password for that system. Hopefully, it doesn't have too much elaborate programming because it will definitely have to be defaulted.

Tech support also needs to defer to the installing dealer because they don't know if the company is switching to another vendor rather than paying an invoice.

Are you a Vodavi/Vertical dealer? If you are you can get a LOA from the customer, get with inside sales. They will see if it is a legitimate scenario and there are back doors to all the systems and VMs

This is a shot in the dark. When the installer finished the programming, did he take a download of the database? If so, have the customer request that database sent to them to have on file as a precautionary measure. Once the customer gets the database, download it to the correct database admin program based on the software version, you should be able to come up with the admin password. Good Luck!

Prior to defaulting this system, I advise obtaining a configuration report that will provide a basic card, station and line structure of the system. This report is obtained separately from the system admin password.

Those of us who are dealers would be in violation of our dealer agreements to distribute it.

Actually it isn't. I ckecked with Vertical about this...it was originally intended to be used by the end user (at the dealer's discretion).
I made sure that it was not a violation of our agreement before I posted it on my website.
