I have inherited a Vodavi sts system and I guess the previous company changed the password. I've been able to do button programming but they have added more phones which are set at default. The system is not that large so if I default the system, will it set back to the default password? And will it affect the voicemail card in the system? Thanks

Yes it will set the KSU P.W. to default. It should not do anything to the VM

Yes it will default the password and no it will not default the Voice mail card, it has it's own programming and password.

Defaulting the KSU could impact the operation of the voicemail.
It depends how the voicemail is set up.

This is my first posting (I'm a wire and relay type guy so forgive me if I take a while to get used to this, even though I work on Mitels, SL1s, Panasonic, and many others.) Thanks for your advice. jpd

Defaulting the KSU most definitely will affect the voice mail operation. It will not affect it physically, but the slot programming for it will be lost. The card slot will need to be re-programmed in order for the voice mail card to work after initialization.

Okay, I see the plot thickens. I'll probably be alright with programming the voice mail card slot but will the voice mail itself be affected. I don't see any designation on the card itself but from reading through other posts on the Vodavi there only seems to be one type. Am I correct in assuming so and STS E says there are other things. I'm guessing there can't be too much. Thanks again. JD

The operation of most voicemail systems is associated with the key service unit it is interfaced with. If the key service unit programming is erased yes it could effect it.
You also did not indicated which VM was in the KSU. You stated a VM card.
There will be programming involved in the KSU tied to the VM system. How much? It depends how you want the VM to operate.

I haven't been to the site for a while but I believe the voice mail is the flash based voice mail card installed in slot 7. There are only fifteen phones and they are all programmed the same way. And I believe the voice mail is a basic "Thanks for calling". By the way, this is one of those favors where you say "Why did I say yes?" JD
