If a phone is set for FWD bsy no ans (9) 440 the transfered caller hears " enter your password " Derrick the manual tip got it working, just not they way it should. Any thoughts Thanks Dennis

What action is set under the Dispatch menu key 7? It should be request mailbox. Also under the LEAVE table don't use the star key.

It sounds as if you haven't programmed the voice mail to use the digit 7 as the 'prompt for mailbox' option.

Wow, I've always used the * key for mailbox access instead of the default of 7 and have never had any problems. It just seems so much more natural to use * plus the mailbox number, then * plus the password when calling in from outside.

Besides, I hate to waste a valid menu option digit for such a function. Auto attendant callers always expect to dial a numerical entry for a menu option in my opinion.

I've never had any problems with using *. Is there something that you aren't telling us, Derrick?

The star key is used for the retrieve message table, not the leave message table.

Thank you for the responses, this system (4896) lost power and memory, the dispatch's batteries were good so it did'nt loose memory. So I was thinking the problem was in the 4896. I will check the program on the dispatch as soon as I dig out my old toshiba satelite lap top. Every thing else on the dispatch works, so I'm not sure that I will find the problem there. I think, looking back 16 years, when Vodavi printed the manuals the configuration for the 4896 was wrong. I believe the problem was resolved by calling Vodavi tech support and they faxed me an updated tech fact sheet with corrections.( wish I could find it ).

The analong Dispatch and the old avp used the same 4896 integration programming. I think the 4896 documentation is correct. The Dispatch documentation version 1a leaves a step out.

You have to program the leave messege index table. flash 65 button 10
You have to program the retrieve message index table-button 11

And you have to program the outpulsing digit tables that the first two steps point to-button 12

Email sent as well.

I've always used the * key for mailbox access
I use this too. I tell users with earlier phones that the instructions are printed right on the phone. When you hear main company greeting, just press "Star Plus" the extension. STARPLUS!

Derrick I will go back and check that, thank you, I was there today and checked the configuration on the dispatch. It was set for 4896. Ed 7 is set for "mailbox".
