STS probable E, with flash voicemail. Customer just switched from clec to Charter cable for dial tone. Now when flash voicemail answers there is a click followed shortly by three rapid beeps, and the call is dropped. Calls answered from a system phone hear a noticable click sound about 1 second after the call is answered, but the call is not dropped. Any have any ideas about what is going on or how to correct the problem. I know the discussion about dial tone coming off cable systems not being true tone but have other customers with this system using comcast dial tone with out problems. Thanks, Steve

I'm guessing that the click that you are hearing is a momentary drop in loop current for whatever reason. The system is detecting that as a loop supervision signal and dropping the call. It won't do this when on a phone unless 'loop supervision while on talk' is enabled (which it isn't by default).
Try changing the loop supervision timer to the maximum amount possible and see if it ignores the click. If it does, you have a slam-dunk case for throwing this back at Charter.
I'm thinking that the three beeps are a confirmation tone that is sent because this click created what appears to be a switch hook flash for use when setting up a CO three-way call, transfer, etc. The beeps are being sent from the central office.
There's no doubt that excessively low line voltage can cause these kinds of issues too. Get a good on-hook measurement before you waste too much time on this.

Thanks guys. The problem was reported after I left the site, I know I should have stayed around, but the customer was rushing me out the door, as Charter was already 3 hours late. Turns out after sending a foreman and one of their techs out, they changed out the modem and the problem went away. Thanks again Steve
