Does anyone know if a circuit in Canada is designated the same as in the states? For instance AT&T would be DHEC. Does the letter and number convention the same across the border as it applies to circuits?
Thanks!

Simple answer is “yes†they are the same… Telcordia Technologies (formally Bellcore) is the organization that drives what’s called “Common Language†(CL) for Telco providers. Telcordia® Common Language® The coding for circuit id’s come from them and this CL format. So there “should†be commonalties across the boarders everywhere. That being said there are a small number of Telco providers that do no subscribe to Telcordia’s services and I think each and every Telco has some “home-grown†circuit id’s out there, that would be unique to each company.

Thanks Bryan for the post. Also is there any info on Telcordia that is not fee based where I might find additional information?

Telcordia NOT fee based?!?!!  Ohhhh that’s funny! They’ll charge to unscrew-up their own mistakes. There have been a BUNCH of posts in the Telephone Services section. Here are a couple of the more useful posts I remember: old post old post 2 Also, keep in mind there are more identification formats besides the “circuit id.†Your initial post was asking about a DHEC circuit identifier. That is a “carrier identifier†(aka ckr) I attempted to graphically show the difference in this old post # 3
