I have a DHS-E 1848 SP7000-10 setup using Vonage lines. The system is working fine. Then, I bought a vodavi CID-9 unit off ebay to add CID function. I have a null modem cable going from the OUT port on the CID-9 port 1(rs232)on the DHS-e. I then split the main vonage line and connect to the CID-9 and DHS-E. Im not too sure about the programming on the executive phone to complete the whole process. First is everything correct so far for the physical connections? Secondly, what must be programmed from the exec phone to allow the CID info to display? Thanks in advance for all your help.

You need FP3 software. Your KSU version will display something like K12UV3.F02.

If you have it, then assign the CO line to the ICLID port #. Assign Wait ICLID in Call Handling. In Resource, set the RMT X Rate to 1200. Set the CID-9 baud rate match. The install manual issue 2 has this on pages 2-45, 4-24 & 6-28.

MNDAVE, thanks for your reply.
There is no documentation for the CID unit for me to figure out the dip switch settings. Also, I figured out a very important thing I was doing wrong ... which is I wasn't using a D9 M/M null modem so it would have never worked. My only road block now is to figure out the dip switch settings. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If the options to set ICLID Port # is available from the station programming, is it fair to say the software is FP3? That option is in the programming.

I never had very good luck getting CID to work with the E cabinet. For that matter I never got one to work consistently for any length of time. The E cabinets had some bus noise issues causing CID to not work on many cabinets.

Sometimes if you fully populated with 3x8 cards it would fix it. I pulled out and dumpsterized my last E Monday. I'm not unhappy.

Also you may well not get it to work with any VOIP lines unless they exactly follow Bellcore standards for CID timing. Tecom allowed no deviation whatsoever back then which showed up almost across the board on their systems until recently. Hook the CID unit up to your laptop to verify you're getting CID data. If so then hook it up to the system. Don't forget that pin 7 and 8 must be shorted on the CID box side. You may need to make a cable. I think the E manual shows the pinout.

Set the three CID-9 dip switches all down for 1200 baud. (All up would be 9600).

The V3 probably means Version 3 but the KSU rev can be seen in the Resource Data programming area - 2nd from the last item. Actually, there was some CID support on FP2 but it was number only.

Thanks for the dip switch settings, MNDAVE.
So, do I need a software upgrade? If so, where can the software be purchased?

Deltron,
According to the install guide, I need a normal DB9 M/M null modem cable. I originally attempted to install the system using a regular DB9 M/F null modem cable (CID "Out" port to DHSE port 1[ICLID/PC]). Now, if I use a DB9 M/M, I would be connecting the CID "IN" port to DHSE port 1.

The information in the manual is pertaining to connecting CID units 1440 and 1480. The CID-9, 7480, is not mentioned so I dont know which is the right cable to use.
Anyways, thanks alot guys for your help so far. Its really appreciated.

V2.F05 can't provide you with a name but I think you should be able to display the number.

Where to get V3 software is iffy. Vodavi discontinued the DHS product long enough ago so that Vertical is no longer obligated to support it. Unless another dealer has it or can burn you a copy, you may be out of luck.

The output pinouts for the 7480 are
1= Not Connected
2= Not Connected
3= Serial Data Output
4= DTR output
5= Ground
6= DSR Input
7= Internally connected to pin 8
8= Internally connected to pin 7
9= Not connected

Didn't realize that the FP3 is a SDRAM and not a software upgrade. Maybe I'll just cut my loss and add an extra jack at each desk (only 3 desks), then add a small stand alone CID unit at each desk. I should be able to do that fairly quick and hopefully the CID units are cheap. The other option is to get another system that have these features and the executive phones will work with it. So, all I would do is replace the key system ... obviously a more expensive proposition. Any thoughts?
