Saw an old butt set today at a job, the guy had it sitting in a pile, said he bought it at a garage sale. It was actually a rotary dial one. It had red and black wires with alligator clips. Had an on and off switch and was grey in color. Made by BECO. Offered the guy $20 for it but he wasn't gonna give it up.
Anyone know how old it might be?

I had a BECO like that in 1977/78 in the military. Flexible rubber..nice set.

That sounds about right. I bought my first one around the same time. You could beat someone in the head with it and return to work as usual after lunch. Very rugged and reliable.

That's pretty much what it looked like Skip. $27.50 back then. I should've offered him more.

Great poster - Judging by the truck, could it be from the early fifties?

Skip, Do you have that actual ad? What do you think those old butt sets are worth? Mine still works! slightly different mouthpiece and it doesn't have the nice angled clips ![[Linked Image from i8.photobucket.com]](https://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a44/C7inCA/buttset.jpg)

Thanks for the info Skip. At 30 bucks it's good to hear the old sets are keeping their value. It's amazing how far the functionality has come. But I doubt the new sets will hold their value nearly as well. Surprisingly my current set isn't THAT much lighter then the BECO, but it does have better balance. ![[Linked Image from i8.photobucket.com]](https://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a44/C7inCA/2buttsets.jpg)
