OK, we're wiring Cat-5 for data, need to change the Operator's jack from a 3 port Avaya/Lucent jack to a 4 port ICC so we can add the Data jack.
Operator's phone works on a single pair, polarity of the pair matches the markings on the jack.
After reterminating and plugging the phone back in, the console phone works, but the two DSS/BLFs are dead. Can't get them to come back up.
Don't want to restart the system, they just had the hard drive replaced two days ago after a power failure. Anything anyone can recommend??

TTT: Aren't those consoles one-pair on pins 4/5 (3/4 on a 6/c jack)? I thought that I saw a setup like yours a while back that was just that. I think the problem may be, and I am simply speculating, is that cords were plugged into the wrong jacks after the conversion, even if momentarily.
I know that with the system that we sell, that will wipe out the programming for that digital port and default it back to a phone port and must be reprogrammed. I hope that's not the case for you. Even if it is, I wouldn't want to be the one who restarts the system.
You would think that a switch should be able to sustain a power outage though. Maybe if you did restart it, the ports for the DSS consoles will be restored? Just an idea.

Thanks, Ed. Yes, it's a single pair on 4/5. One of the other guys was in the process of doing the change-over when I arrived, but he's a top-notch tech, so I trust his judgement. Personally, I wouldn't have touched it.
We had a nasty power outage on Monday night, when we were supposed to work over time to do some cabling. When we returned on Tuesday, their phone system was dead - didn't survive the restart when the power came back on. It's not our system, their Seimens service comes from a couple of hundred miles away. Turns out the hard drive failed, and they put another one on a plane in Los Angeles, so the installer could meet the plane at the airport and come back at 8:30 that night to finish.
Anyway, he's coming back on Monday for another MAC on the system, so he will be able to get it up and running then.
I would bet that it got plugged into the wrong jack when the faceplace got put back together.
