I just bought a used Siemens OfficePoint C (basically a OfficeCom with 4 less card slots) with hipath software.
I have a few questions that I hope someone here may know.

1. The power supply makes a buzzing noise kind of like a modem. Is this normal? It also sometimes makes a high
pitched noise.

2. What is the difference with a TST1 and a TMST1? I have a slot for both, can I just use a TMST1. Id rather
use that because I can actually find it (and at a reasonable price used). If I have one OfficePro slot, shouldn’t
I be able to use the TMST1? Or is T1 card use limited by software rather then hardware? What are my options for
a T1?

3. Because this PBX is basically a underequipped OfficeCom, is it possible to solder the missing connectors on
the backplane. There does not look to be any electronics on the backplace, just connectors. Is the amount of
boards installed limited by software or hardware. Hipath 3000 manager shows my cabinet as a 3550/OfficeCom.

4. Looking at the datasheets, I cannot find a definitive answer for what the capacity of this PBX is. I am in
a unique situation that I have a OfficePoint C with hipath software. Am I limited by software or (lack of)
connectors/installable boards? How many digital stations and trunks (without the digital set phone adaptor) can be used on this PBX?

5. Is the number is SPIDS (for ISDN) limited to 8 which would mean I have a max of 4 ISDN lines? The hipath
service guide states that max 8 SIPDS are allowed but the US oriented datasheet states 16 "trunks". I plan to use this
switch with ISDN to begin with on a 5ESS CO switch.

Thank you for any help

1/The siemens 3530 does make a buzzing sound when on and the pitch of the buzz changes the more equipment put on it, e.g telephones.

2/don't know difference between tst1 and tmst1 the manual lists card as tst1/tmst1, but with siemens this could be phisical size i.e 3550 and rack unit 3500 or just older models.

3/The mother board on the 3350 and 3550 and software is the same. the reason the software detects the unit type is, because the pin assignment on back plane is different, so I would not advise messing with it.

4/ Normaly the system config, is set by what cards you fit, dont have office point c here but sounds like the 3350 with 2 slots for co or ext.
plus 8 digital and 4 a/b ports on mother board. we also have 2 so ports on mother board.

5/how many lines would depend on cards installed, here to have 16 isdn channels we could only have 8 extensions, because the system would be full.

Please keep in mind this info is about the Irish 3350/3550 systems and could be different on the usa unit.

Thanks for the information.

The OfficePoint C is more like a 3550 with 4 less (missing connectors for) Com/Point slots. The OfficePoint C has the same backplane as the OfficeCom but with the 4 missing connections The system has a 2 Com/Point slots and a large Pro slot.

Because of the fast that its the same backplane as the OfficeCom with 4 missing connectors, I was wondering if I can add those connectors and make it a OfficeCom/3550 backplace.

Do you know if there is a way to limit speakerphone volume centrally?

thanks for your help.

I would think you would have to change some jumpers on back plane to make it think it was a full 3550.your software is telling you it is a office point c. there is something on back plane to let it know what the mother board is pluged in to.

I haven't come accross any where in the programming to limit speaker volume, only thin I saw was in flags was increse volume on optipoint sets, this is unchecked as standard.
