I have been expieriencing intermitint trouble with an AT&T 984 phone set. At times, more often than not, line 2 will have a loud buzzing noise on it which makes it hard for the caller and the other end to hear. This is in a small office that has two 974 sets also hooked up and they do NOT experience those problems. I unplug the set and use my buttset and it is fine. At times you can unplug the ATT set and plug it back in and it will be fine for awhile. I have sent this phone in for repair and was old there was nothing wrong with it. Anyone have any ideas? Something else I should look for or test? I did add loop current regulators after this problem started.

Sounds like your phones gone south, especially if it clears for a bit at times after unplugging. Only other thing could possibly be interference from a computer monitor or fluorescent lamp, but that should affect both lines. From what you've discribed sounds like you need a new phone.

Thats what i was pretty much thinking. I have had this problem in the past with these particular phones and switched them out with a new one or sent them off for repair. This last time they repair company said they couldnt duplicate the problem and that there was no issue with the phone..understandable if its intermitent. Have you heard of QPPT? They repaired them for me previously. I was also thinking as you did of interference, but its only on line 2 and when you unplug and plug back in it goes away for an undetermined amount of time.

No I haven't heard of them, but I'd think with the price of these phones a new one would be a better value than repairing one.
If you want to upgrade to a nice no nonsense little system I'd look at the X16 by XBLUE.
