I just bought a condo that has an Aiphone C-ML intercom system. Once I moved in, I found out that it doesn't work. I changed the 4 C batteries in the inside unit, still no luck. I took the cover off the outside unit, and blew out a couple spiders... still no luck. Should I buy a whole new unit, or is there something else I can check?

Check this website: C-123L/A Chime Com System There's a link for drawings and such. These are pretty simple units. If new batteries doesn't fix the problem, check the wiring between them for continuity. If that checks out, grab some new modules.
Sometimes the thoughts in my head get so bored, they go for a stroll through my mouth. This is rarely a good thing.

JBean: Thanks for the reply. I'm no so savvy with electric and wiring stuff. How do I check the wiring? I do know that the green and white wires are all connected. That's about all I know. ~Seaswirl~

Get your hands on a multimeter or a continuity checker. Remove the batteries from BOTH modules, and disconnect any door chime/ strike release power transformers at the main unit at the L terminals if you have a push button door release. Short the wires connected to the E and 1 terminals together at the inside module. At the outside module, remove the wires connected to the E and 1 terminals and check for continuity on the wires with the meter- one lead on the E wire, one lead on the 1 wire. If the reading shows a short, your wiring is good. If it shows an open (no continuity) you have a broken wire somewhere.
If your wiring is okay, grab some new modules.

Sounds to me like you need to have somebody take care of this for you. These are simple enough that electricians normally handle them. I would suggest that you avail yourself of one.
