I am troubleshooting a 3COM NBX telephone system the problem is that when a call is answered and the person presses the transfer button, there is no transfer dial tone. The diaplay says 'transfer' and their is ringing over the handset but it does not transfer anywhere.
Any ideas?

Sounds as though you did not dial an extension to transfer the call to. When the transfer key is pressed the system has a choice of music on transfer or ringing. It sounds that you have the second option and what it does is plays ringing to the outside party until the call is picked back up. Remember you must press transfer extension and then transfer a second time to complete the transfer.
