I'm looking for something that will read the Caller ID data from a Residential Line and Play a greeting based on the received number and then dump that caller if need be.
can be software or hardware based.
basically i will have a black list. all numbers on that black list i would like to get a prerecorded message saying "the number is no longer in service please check the number and try your call again" then dump the caller.
those not on a black list will ring through as normal.
there was a device on the market that did this it was about the size of an external caller id box, but it was pulled from the market or discontinued.
requirements are if software based that it run on windows or linux, be cheap or free and use standard off the shelf hardware. accept the greeting as wav file.

I don't think it is legal to create phony disconnect messages for working numbers. Anyway, Mike Sandman has (had) a device called "whozz calling" that I seem to recall offered this functionality. Take a look at his caller ID gadgets HERE

Take a look at his caller ID gadgets HERE hmm, wonder how much money the collections agencies and telemarketers paid the government to get that law passed as there is no other reason to have such a law on the books (if the law in fact exists). here is the device i was referring to... https://www.privacycorps.com/products/?id=20

The phone companies likely have a lot to do with it because what happens is when a number gives a phony disconnect recording people call the phone company complaining or asking why a number is disconnected when it isn't. The reps then end up spending all kinds of time trying to fix a non-existent problem because they usually aren't smart enough to figure it out for awhile.

Many systems will route the call by CID but I think you need a software solution because your going to run into to many variables. I can set any number to go where I want like known telemarketer get the "Thank you for calling ...Good bye" Your problem is going to be to many blocked and false CID numbers.

FREE I know of several voicemail systems that will connect to a copper truck/Line and do just what you want it to do. You of course would have to add the numbers to the database, my guess very often due to many new numbers. I am sure I can help you get just what you need. The cost, Free of course, but you have to pay shipping and handling $5000.00. When would you like it shipped. A way of doing business I learned in eBay school :read:
