OK, I have a couple of strange happenings going on. Perhaps someone has some pointers.

First, I have phonecalls bypassing the receptionist and going straight to people in the call center and I know for a fact that they didn't call the direct line for those people. Anybody have any ideas?

Second, there's something up with a couple of virtual mailboxes. The two share an extention. The caller gets a prompt: For Ann press 1, for Pam press 2. Now every so often, when the caller presses 1 or 2, they get routed to what seems a completely random mailbox. Any ideas?

For Voicemail, we use EliteMail FMS/VMS. My knowledge in this area is extreamly limited. And for call distribution, Electra Elite ACD Plus.

Any thoughts on the subject would be appreciated.

getting to the vm then dialing their ext maybe?

no clue on this one. are they on cell phones (just grasping)?

I think you may have the same problem as I had before Chrislebeck helped me out...

Check your setting #58 on page 6 of your application screen in the VMS. Set the OKn option to OK0 (OK Zero). This basically forces the VMS/FMS to interpret the keys as they are entered by the users, immediately, without delay. Mine was set at OK1 before I set it to OK0 and the problem went away.

In my case, if someone enters their selections for two consecutive menus activated with one touch keys, without pausing one second in between the two key strokes, my VMS(4) interpreted the 2 keys as an "invalid extension" and routes the call to either the operator or the station set in the VMS to take "invalid IDs".

Try it out and see if that helps.

As for random problems and strange behaviours, I look back to my PC support days and tell the user to put in a power filter or UPS, and most of the time, the problem goes away (or no longer gets reported.) [Linked Image from sundance-communications.com]

Would I need CoSessions for this? All I have access to is the phones and the Electra Elite IPK EU SAT. I suppose I can aquire CoSessions though. Can I do this through the System Manager voicemail account?

Speaking of, how do I set other extentions/people as a system manager?

NO. THAT IS FOR A VOICEMAIL SYSTEM THAT USES DTMF INTERGRATION (IE LINGO (S H U D D E R!!!)). THE ELITEMAIL FMS/CMS/VMS/VMP ALL ARE INTERGRATED BETTER THAN THAT.

Thanks for the responce. I did figure out that I was supposed to get CoSessions with the purchase of the VMS card. I talked to my vendor and they said that I'm supposed to have it somewhere here on site, but it's nowhere to be found. They said they'd give me another copy but that's most likeley next week or so. It takes them some time to get us stuff we order.

i'll get a copy tomorrow and send it as soon as i get to the house!

there is a windows version and an older dos version (which will run under windows). any preference? both are pretty much the same once you get into the vm.

as a side note:
on all my vm installs i do NOT leave a copy UNLESS they have someone there who can deal with it and who knows at least a little about it.

most people don't want to even mess with it because they can screw it up big time and even lock all managers out of it if they aren't careful (which requires a>defaulting the vm and starting over or b>sending it to nec to recover the password or have one inserted. either way it's spending $$).

Either one is fine with me. Whichever one works better. I know for win2k installs for the version that we should have gotten i would have needed to add a line (device= / keyboard.drv) to the system.ini to fool the program to install on a 32 bit machine. So I'm guessing that would have been the DOS version... I think I'll go with the Windows version if it's meant for a 32 bit machine.

As for screwing things up royally... I'll be very very careful. Is there documentation for CoSessions?
