Is there a way to feed the Caller ID data to an individual computer sitting next to the phone? I know there are caller ID boxes that do this, but they seem to only work with analog phone lines. All we have is digital for the phones. No IP phones either. Is there an NEC brand or perhaps a third party product that would do this?
This is why I'm asking this: We have a call center where people call in with questions. The Customer Ed people have to then manually pull up the clients file on a proprietary application. Now if I could give my programmers the specs for something that feeds the caller ID data into the computer, they could write a piece of code that would automatically pull up the client file when a call is received.

I will have research if CID can get passed along to an analog adapter(APR-U). How about TAPI?

it's an interface that plugs into the bottom of a phone and has a serial or usb interface for your computer. you would have some sort of software (like act! maybe) to pull up customer data from the callerid ani

An it works with the digital (not IP) phone cards and DTH phones?
Any places of reference you can recommend for these things?

on my ftp site
the ipk hardware guide start @ page 375 for description of the hardware
the features & specs-page 264 talk about cti
you'll still need some sort of software for the pc. i want to say act! but i've never really had to do this for a customer.

Thank You. That's exactly the information I was looking for.
As far as software, we'll just submit a feature request to our programmers and they will add the required features to our proprietary client database software.
