My wife's grandfather has acquired a channel master antenna/mast/rotating motor/controller box. He has the antenna installed and he does have a converter box at his TV. With the analog to digital conversion that happened last month, will he be able to pick up channel's through his channel master. I'm thinking he will be able too, but I want to be sure before I install the wiring to make it work.
Thanks!

That is going to depend on the antenna that you have. For most of the new digital stations you will need the UHF band along with the VHF. Try antennaweb.org for more information

Thanks for the link. There are two antenna's mounted (UHF an VHF?). I'm guessing by the looks of the antennas. I don't have a lot of experience with them. The two antenna's are wired (coaxial) into an amplifier box and then one coax comes out, which would connect to the TV run. At least this is how it looks to me. He has the channel guide that came with the controller box from the original installation. On it there is description of which channels will come in via north/south/east/west, in UHF and VHF categories.

What's the question? Is he afraid to turn it on? Is it not working?

Channel Master produced many different models. The Ultra-High Crossfire was a very popular line for areas with both VHF and UHF stations. https://www.pldepot.com/Crossfire-Overview.aspx If the antenna is in decent condition (no missing or bent elements) and has a sideways "V" shaped Yagi, its probably ok for digital TV reception. Today, Channel Master, and most other manufacturers, sell UHF only antennas.

Today, Channel Master, and most other manufacturers, sell UHF only antennas.Actually the few manufacturers that still manufacture antennas and equipment such as Channel Master and Winegard do make VHF/UHF combos in addition to straight UHF models. A combo would be the normal choice for most areas since there are still low power VHF stations that are transmitting a digital signal in addition to the UHFs. So unless you know for certain from a source such as antennaweb.org that you will only be able to receive UHFs a combo is what you will need. Also, there is no such thing as a "digital" antenna or anything else. If what you have is old yet in good shape it will work just fine. -Hal

My bad, I didn't see the "Next Page" tab at the bottom of the page I was looking at on Channel Master's website.

I now also see in the original post that the OP has yet to run the cable, so my bad also. If you are uncertain I would temporarily run a cable down through a window to connect the set.
When I was in that business, I had a "test" antenna which was nothing more than a small standard antenna that I had bent the locking tabs on the elements so that it could easily be unfolded and folded up again.
For a survey I would climb up onto the roof with it mounted on a short pole together with a signal level meter. I also had a battery powered TV for those instances where I wanted to check signal quality. Armed with that information I was then able to determine what kind of reception was possible and what size antenna to install.

Great, thanks guys for the help. I will give it a whirl and see what happens. I'll use a small piece of 20/3 wire to make sure the motor still turns before I install the cabling to the TV.
The rotating motor gets it's power from the controller box correct?
