Several Motels around here with 2way GS trunks, or split some in some out.

You're right. As I recall ICTs were always Loop, and OGTs were GS but BWTs were (of course) GS too.

But is the AutoAttendant an integral part of a Neax PBX? Or is it a standalone that connects via extensions?

I should not worry about all this stuff and just settle down to practice my pre-retirement drinking.

tommyb52, so obviously, we need to know WHAT is picking up the call. DISA? AA? DID, which would reqire digits inbound AFTER the wink or whatever the PBX and C.O. are communicating with. And if the line is DID, it may be programmed to expect pulse dial. (Actually DID is the easiest to test. Put your buttset on the PBX leads and dial approprate digits into the PBX. If DTMF doesn't work, does pulse dial?) John C.

In my day DID was either Pulse or MF NEVER DTMF. But then it was always Loop, never GS.

Since last night,my CO reversed the polarity on the 4 ground start lines and guess what? The trouble is gone, you guys were right. Any land line call into one of the #'s get picked up and you can dial extensions. But now when the lines are called into by a cell phone, the same problem exists. We then temporarily switched the line to a pair gain pair which was serving a trunk ground start line which had no problems and the line in trouble now works fine with any incoming call from anywhere. The PBX is a NEC 2400.We are trying to provision some more PG pairs and transfer the lines off copper into the PG.The copper pairs are clean with no defects.Any ideas why cell phones can't dial an extension?Once again thanks for all the help.

All cell phones? Could be you have marginal levels, or could be the cell phone tones are of too short duration to work. From what you discribe I'd guess the levels are marginal.

At the Demarc from the CO. Even if they are you'd never get them to do anything since it works from a land line. They won't care if cells or IP doesn't work. There may be some level adjustment at the PBX that would help it.
