1800, 1888, and 1877 already able to be dialed. Need to allow 1866 dialing. How do I do this?

This could be quite complex as it involves LCR. How adept at programming are you?

Quite adept on several systems. Not so yet on the NEAX2000. I'm working at a company that is utilizing my past experience in telecom by maintaining their Neax2000. I've been doing daily maintenance type work on it for about 10 months now. If it would be easier to email me the info you may. [email protected]

I do have a full set of manuals. Up to this point I have been able to figure out all requests and needed changes. The one thing I've figured out so far is in 8A, the working toll-free exchanges are in routed in 405. It won't let me add 866 in there. It just shows as WRONG.

This will be quite easy then. What you have to remember with LCR is that the number sequence is always expanded out to the number you want then contracted back. For example there could be entries such as
4>405
5>405
60>405
61>405
62>406
63>405
64>405
65>405
66>405
67>405
68>405
69>405
7>405
where you just wanted 62 to be different.

From this you will see that there is always going to be an entry that corresponds to the code you are trying to program the secret is finding out how many digits it is expanded out to and creating your own expansion and contraction of the sequence to get the result you want. The "WRONG" means the system saw a conflict so first try 8 then try 86 you've already tried 866 so if necessary try 866x and so on.

Hang on it's just occoured to me, why are you looking at 866 and not 1866? What is 9 (assuming US/UK) pointed to in command 20x? If it is A26 then you should be looking at 18XX onwards or if A29 then 918xx. If this doesn't help I'll see about corresponding direct.

Thanks. 186 did the trick. Whoever originally built these tables built them for both 800 and 1800, 877 and 1877, etc.

This is a great site. I've got to keep this NEC chugging along on my own so I'll bend your ears whenever I hit a snag.

Glad to be of assistance. It shouldn't be hard to keep it chugging along as it is quite a versatile product but as with most, us techs have to get used to the vagaries of the system. Prior to my shift to OZ I had to know about 12 key systems inside out as I was tech support/trouble shooter but I've managed to limit my involvement to about 5 Pabxs since and now only have to concentrate on one manufacturers.

I started in this field in 1985. Mainly Toshiba at that time. I've been trained on Executone, Interel ESPs, Vodavi and Tadiran (Coral) since then. These days my company has me outsourced as the Technlogy Supervisor to an organization - I run the dept. that mainly works on the network. We also have taken over anything slightly electrical - copiers, alarm systems on several campuses, cable and satelite systems, etc. We are not NEC dealers, but once you work on several different systems you can figure out almost any system as long as you have the manuals.

Chiming in a little late here. . .

I have the same problem Fairlane was having. I found 1888 and 1800 in the 8A programming and changed 1866 to route the same, but still not able to dial out. I can dial 1888 with no problem, but get a busy when trying 1866. Any suggestions?
