Did you have your programmer do what tip&ring suggested about changing the time out to disconnect? This would cut out most of your recorded garbage until you get the disconnect problem fixed.

I am a NEC Aspire installer. I have had a customer that has had the exact same problem. The problem lies in what is called disconnect suppervision. When a call is disconnected there is a signal that is sent down line to the phone system that says "hang up". Vontage does not support this feature. The only thang you can do is to change to a diffrent carrer. Most Telco companys will tell you that there is no such thing, ther is you may have to talk to 2 or three of there engineers.

Easy way to check for CO Disconnect from telco:
Put your butt set across the line, clip a volt-ohm meter onto your butt set clips. At "on-hook" your volt-ohm meter should read somewhere between 37 - 48 volts DC. Go "off-hook"... the meter should read somewhere between 7 - 12 volts DC. While off-hook, call your cell phone... and establish connection.... the voltage will continue to show 7 - 12 volts. Now, keeping your eyes on the meter reading, hang up the cell phone .... do not hang up the butt set. If the telco is providing disconnect supervision, you will see the voltmeter drop to 0 volts, then back to 7 - 12 volts. The drop to 0 is quick... so you'll need to pay attention.
If there is no drop in DC voltage on hang-up of the cell phone, then the telco is not providing disconnect supervision.
