I'm helping out my town hall with a few things. They've got an Elecrtra 192. When power goes out in the building (all too often) the phones go dead immediately. Looking at the unit case, and looking up the specs, it seems a battery backup is standard. True?
Most alarm systems and phone systems I see use standard lead-acid batteries. Rather than have them spend a huge sum to have their phone vendor replace a $50 battery, does anyone have the specs on what's needed? Is it "user serviceable" to a reasonable degree? I've changed batteries in other systems and alarm panels before, just don't happen to be there right now to look at the thing.
Alternatively we could just buy a regular external UPS I suppose.
Thanks,
Mitch

battery backup IS standard indeed.
it will have 2 12v batteries in the front of it. remove them and go to batteries plus, rat shack, etc.....they are pretty common.
or just get a ups. either way.
