I've got a customer with a DS2000 and paging is setup via a trunk port (port 6) to a Bogen PCM. This is a 24x7 facility and there are times when the manager calls at night and the employees are away from the phone and cannot hear the phone ring. The AA picks up after 6 rings and the manager would like the ability to page the employees and tell them to call her. Obviously I can dial 106 on the intercom and connect to the paging and this works as expected. However, when I attempt a transfer from the AA to 106 it will attempt to connect but will immediately return to the AA. The trunk access for trunk 6 in program 1006 is "Full Access" as is voice mail trunk access in program 8003. Am I overlooking some security feature for trunk access, or what? BTW - ringing over the paging is NOT an option for them - it will disturb patients.

Here's a guess --- no battery is on Trk 6 so it drops out thereby returning to AA. Can you put at least 24v talk battery on the trk? Just a guess. KLD

You may have to use a dial action table set as unscreened transfer and then set a dial string to dial the trunk access code.
Also look at trunk to trunk transfer as that is exactly what you are doing.
Also I would not list this in any of the AA recordings as this would be open to the public.

Both of you are following the same line of thought I had. KLD - The PCM puts 48v talk battery on the trunk so that is not the problem. T&R - I have tried setting the dial action table so that option 8 does an unscreened transfer to trunk 106 and I have also allowed directed dialing to 106 and neither work. Don't worry, I wasn't going to put the option in the recording. This will just be a "hidden" feature for the manager.

T&R - your comment about trunk-to-trunk transfer reminded me of a feature I hadn't looked at. In program 0101 the "Direct Trunk Access" must be turned on for the class of service. I tried this on my test system and it worked. Sometimes we just need someone to help turn on a light. Thanks, I appreciate the help. ====== Bill
