I have an nec 2000 ips with a neax 64 voice mail system. In place of an intercom system in our new children/preschool building we are placing phones in all the classrooms. I have about 34 DTR 1-1 model phones I would like to use. They have a speaker under the handset and directions for adjusting the speaker volume. I need to know if this model phone can receive and broadcast pages if added to a page zone. I want to create a separate zone for that building in place of an intercom system. I would rather use up my extra phones than buy $6000 worth of Dterm 8 button phones.
If all else fails read the directions.

ok, I think I figured out they won't work because they are analog and the page is a digital feature even though they have a speaker under the handset. I think I will go ahead and use the phones for now and replace them next year when the next building is finished. I was asked if I can block outside lines (except 911) on the phones so they can only call another extension. Is this possible?

Yes it's possible. you need to change the RSC for those extensions but the catch is finding out what to change it to. If you already have a phone that is restricted in this way just check what that is set to and change the others to match. Cmd 1201 in moc/cat mode or it will be in one of the dropdowns in matworks. If you don't have one set this way it could be complicated as you may need to search through LCR to find out what is what. In that case I would probably reccomend a tech visit unless you are up to that.

LCR takes some careful work. I agree with R4+Z.

You can set the toll class for those extensions to '88' to restrict all outbound, but to restrict all but '911', you will need to perform careful LCR programming, which probably is beyond the scope of this forum. We have been putting the new 2-button digital fones in classrooms, they are a pretty good deal.

thanks, I planned to have a tech do it if it was possible. I just emailed the sales rep and told her no on the phones but asked the same question. I told her I wanted a specific tech who is more careful with his programming than some of the others. All this to keep the ladies on the housekeeping staff from wasting time talking on the phones. I already removed all the phones from their closets in each of the buildings because of it.
