I was upgrading the system software on an NEC DS 2000 system and during the upgrade my PC rebooted for no known reason. It was 80% completed when my PC rebooted. Now I can't connect to the system is is stuck in startup mode. I have tried the tips on NEC website but no luck. They are either closed today or their support sucks because I have been on hold for an hour and a half now.
I know my PC and connections are fine because I restored their database to the new system with the same PC.
Any ideas? I had to buy a new system so my customer would not be down.

Right from the NEC website
For THE DS2000
1. Verify that your cables and adapters are correct. 2. Check to be sure you have downloaded the latest Update Utility and the correct system software for your system. 3. Start the Update Utility - but do not press Connect. 4. On your DS2000 CPU, press the reset button. 5. As soon as the top 2 LEDs on the CPU start to flash (alternate red and green), press the Update Utility Connect button. Verify the following: Status = CONNECTED - LOAD MODE Type = DS2000 Version = NOT AVAILABLE 6. Press Read and continue with the update process normally. 7. When the upload completes, press the reset button on the CPU.
The DS2000 will restart with the selected software and reinstate the default (factory installed) database.
For the DS1000

ttech,
Sorry I should have been more descriptive. I tried the website fix and it did not work. Does anyone know if using the pcmcia card to upload the software might get around the issue.
Thanks for the info.

According to Dave when I had a bad one, NO.
Pull the battery and try a complete upload.
Good luck.
