Hi-

Our office has an NEC Electra IPK (750025 IPK B64 Basic) with an 8-circuit LS /GS CO Line Card (nec 750160) and we would like to add another phone to it (we currently have only 6 phones, but want a 7th).

I have quite a bit of experience setting up office networks (computer) and I did set up our data network (including wiring crimping cables etc.). I already have the new NEC phone (NEC-780071) , some cat5 cable (I know these phones only use 2 wires like a standard phone wire), and a crimper. Is it feasible that I might be able to add the new phone to our system.

I see the punch board where all of our phones terminate (next to the control box), and the “pattern” seems to be simple. If I run wires, and plug in the new phone, what else will be required?

Will I need a laptop with special software to re-program the control box, or can it be done from a phone terminal in the office? Any help of suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

programming will need to be done via a phone if needed.

hook it up to port 7 and see if it has been programmed. should be ext 106 (if the default programming is there).

button programming is in program 4-12 if needed.
if there isn't an ext number assigned, program 4-10 is the port to ext number assignment
