I am replacing a CPU on a IPK 64 system (recommended by NEC to upgrade CPU) When I insert the CPU the system will be defaulted right? And if so I want to upload my saved system info back to that new CPU. My question is....when the system is defaulted what is the default modem port? I need to do this remotely.
Thanks

I'm afraid that when it is default there is no modem access. If you are replacing the CPU (and I can't see any reason for doing that for an upgrade within the IPK range) why not hardware reload while on site the old database??

Ok, that is what I am doing, is upgrading to a new CPU. What is the process? I have the system database saved. So when I put the new CPU and power up how can I connect to the IPK? I don't have the local connector.
thanks

connector is on the side of the cabinet. same place as when you downloaded the info.
i'm with paulw tho, why replace the cpu just to do an upgrade?
you will need the mifm card in order to do it tho.

NEC recommended a CPU replacement. So it is a serial to serial connection fol local connection? So if I change the CPU do I local connect with a DB9 to DB9 cable, and reload the hardware first then the system info?
thanks

This is what I would do asuming that you have a MIFM card in place and the latest version of SAT software for the new CPU
1. Connect to the switch and with your DB9 to DB 9 cable and take a download of the current system 2. Save this with a name that indicates that it is the orginal dump. 3. Turn system off and remove the PKU expander chip if fitted. 4. Put the PKU chip into the new CPU if needed. 5. Put new CPU into the the system and power on. 6. When the Dterms come up connect back to the system with SAT. Go to upload >Start (check Call FWD and Misc is needed) and do a Hardware upload. 7. When completed disconnect from SAT and test system.
If the previous version did not support the saving of Call Forward info you will need to do this from the telsets or from SAT.
Also go to the station CLS (1-8-08) and enable , Hot Keypad, Interactive softkeys and user name change settings if not included in the original dump.
Good luck..

Hi Paul, Is the expander chip an eprom or a daughter board? I have only one cabinet, is this for expansion? sorry for the questions. I have a New CPU 300 Rev 3.02 and my SAT 2.52 will not work. Anywhere I can get the latest SAT? willing to pay if needed.
thanks

The PKU192 expander chip allows the 48 port "basic" system to go to a 192 port "expanded" system. It is a 20 pin DIL IC that goes in the socket at the top of the CPUI just behind the release lug.
As you are replacing the CPU there should no need to do any other upgradinging.
Regarding SAT I would suggest that you contact the NEC dealer who sold you the upgraded CPU and asked for a free upgrade of SAT..
