Got a few questions meeting with the sales rep tomorrow just didnt want to bug the crap out of him all day.
For voicemail is there and option so that it will either email me the message as an audio file or call my cell and play it. If so is that an add on unit?
Also I see that you can use a VOIP phone to connect to the system from home or elsewhere is this another add on unit or standard?
So excitied got the contract reviewal and everything set up tomorrow.
We are a small business with 5 voice lines and 2 fax lines, is the Aspire S a good unit to go with?
One more question on how it handles fax lines. I want to have my fax line go through it, if it detects a fax it recieves the fax, but I dont get many faxes so I also want to be able to use this is a regular line at all the extensions any problems there?
Also just wanna check the prices to see that I am not getting screwed.
(Pricing removed from public forum) Just making sure its the best thing for me.
Sorry for all the questions just want to make sure I am getting the right thing for me.
Thanks for the hep.

First of all you should not worry about buggy the crap out of any sales person, that is what they are there for to sell the product. I can answer just a few of your questions. If you have decided on voice mail, yes it can notify numerous ways including to your cell phone. Yes the voice mail does have fax detect, of course AA has to answer that paticular line. You will also need to purchase a analog station card and connect your fax to the system so AA has a place to transfer the fax to. Most systems need a additonal circuit card to connect and enable the voice over IP phone. These are the questions you need to ask your sales rep!

"For voicemail is there and option so that it will either email me the message as an audio file or call my cell and play it. If so is that an add on unit?"
The intramail can do this to your cell or outside phone number. The intramail cannot do email. To really do unified you have to go into an Aspire M with a toally different voicemail which probably costs twice what you are paying for the Aspire S for just the voicemail alone.
"Also I see that you can use a VOIP phone to connect to the system from home or elsewhere is this another add on unit or standard?"
Add on. And it requires you to be on a VPN.
"We are a small business with 5 voice lines and 2 fax lines, is the Aspire S a good unit to go with?"
The Aspire S can do a MAX of 8 incomming lines. If you think you are going to grow past that soon have them quote you an Aspire M.
"One more question on how it handles fax lines. I want to have my fax line go through it, if it detects a fax it recieves the fax, but I dont get many faxes so I also want to be able to use this is a regular line at all the extensions any problems there?"
Why would you put fax lines in your phone system? The real solution is a ComShare device that is put in front of the phone system that can detect voice/fax. I hesitate to do this however because if you are awaiting an important fax...anything that gets between the fax and the phone line can not work properly...especially if the sender has an older fax machine that doesn't do CNG.

The reason I wasnt wanting to have the fax line hooked into the system is a feel that line is being wasted, I get 2 faxs a week maybe. I would just like to have the fax on say line 4 and that line would only ring at the fax not at the extensions, but if the line is needed it can be picked up from and dialed from any extension.
I didnt make it in town in time this morning to meet with the rep to ask all this but the offie manager went ahead and signed the contract and we are all ready for the install later thsi week.
Thanks for the help.

The line share device does just that; Comshare is a a good one, the "Stick" as well, Plenty of others too. Your vendor should be able to supply them, or you can pick one up at office depot. They go before the system and do exactly what the system would do, Additionally they do eat up and system hardware resources. At one time the Fax Detect in the systems was iffy so I think most of us don't really consider using the fax detect nowadays. the LSD is usually the more cost effective and reliablre way of going. By the way, LSD's com in a wide variety of line/ port configurations. Another possabilty although not as popular, is distinctive ringing. Alot of fax machines have that feature built in, or you could get a DR device to act like a Line Share Device. ...Coral any indictation on the UNified Message on the Aspiremail? We wil be doing one shortly, got the switch ready to go thew in a temp VM. Just haven't had the time to do the homework yet

Well, like ANYTHING that comes out first we wait. I have been bitten one too many times by the lack of foresight and beta testing. I think it's not an upgrade it's an enitirely new product. I saw the alpha version and it looks neat and some feature are really cool but port heavy (like most Aspire vm apps.). As they say we shall see how it stacks against the other unified systems. So far the Tadiran uCMC version 2.0 is slick as hell with outlook.

Well got the baby installed and boy is it sexy. Very nice install top notch company. I was out of the office today so I just got to play with it for a second tonight, they are comming back tomorrow to teach it all to me.
One question that I do have is do you always have to hit 9 or a line to get an outside line, or can you program it so that this extension pick up line 4. Just wondering till I learn it all tomorrow.
