I have a friend that is IT support for a banking firm with several branches. They are using AD-40 for their unified messaging. The users are frequently getting voice messages that sound "muddy". Also, some messages are not clearing out on their phone after it is deleted in outlook. Anybody encountered this before? What is the solution? Do they need to upgrade to AD-64 which is Win 2003 based? Thanks for any suggestions.

There's a setting for Message: X -- Lessee, where's my manual -- 08>025> 0=message, 1=message:X
I think that, for the message thing to work reliably, you need to have 08>25>0 set. After doing so, you'll need to go into the AD-40 EZSetup and resync the message lights.
"Muddy" messages -- unclear? "Fuzzy" sounding? distorted? I'd try doing test calls for various scenarioes -- internal, external, cell phones, IP if available -- to isolate the type of call that "sounds muddy."
Once you know that, it's easier to isolate. If it's all types of calls, then it indicates the VMail; possibly one bad port (try busying out one port at a time and retesting).

I have absolutely NO experience with the NEAX series. I am assuming the numbers you provided are memory locations similar to what the Elite series uses. The "muddy" phrase is how they describe the condition. He said it sounds like a low bitrate recording. He also said the VM hard drive light is steady and very seldom flickers - i.e., a lot of disk thrashing. They have approx 100 users on this AD-40. I have no idea if this is approaching max configuration. The company that has supported them has lost the NEAX tech so they are trying to locate another source of support. Thanks for your reply.

I beleive you are using ViewMail - a plug-in for outlook. The changing over to .wav format is low quality with that program. I beleive you can adjust it in the settings in viewmail but it does not change much. As for the messages not deleting from there Mbox - Outlook is just providing a link to the actual message on the AD-40 for it to be pulled off the Ad-40 you have to check the option to download then messages will be deleted from the users mbox. Be advisde that this will put a load on your exchange server as if users save alot of messages they can become very space intensive ( .wav files get pretty big)
