Hi,
I have just discover this forum. So far I can see that it has a wealth of info. Hope that someone can help me fast. I live in St.Lucia which is in the Caribbean. I am doing some research on a phone system for a client of mine. I am looking for a simple reasonably priced phone system. My client just wants 3-4 phones for now. Has 2 lines to the office but one is used for fax and internet. I need something that is very easy to program as I this is the first time working with a pbx. Running wires is not a problem as I work with networking computers, install and program access control systems, burglar alarm and cctv systems. So far I have came up with Talkswitch, Xblue networks X16(via this forum)and NEC DSX-40 and NEC 22 Button Phone. Well it seems that xblue networks is out since they said that the don't sell outside the USA. Any advise or recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Or any recommendations for a dealer or online dealer who I can work with as I have a freight forwarder in Miami,Florida. Just maybe if I get this system off the ground, I can start to promote it as business are looking for small size reasonably priced phone systems in St.Lucia. Thanks

Two lines and three to four phones? Have you looked at simple two line phones? Seems to me that a KSU based system is overkill.

Perhaps someone in the Orlando, Miami, Puerto Rico areas could jump in here. What you need is, perhaps, someone who you can rely on to help you with the first two or three installations--by phone or remote programming.

My personal preferences would be the X-Blue or the NEC products---not the Talkswitch. The Talkswitch, IMO is too limited.

There are alot of other nice systems in this range, however---Partner ACS, Vertical/Comdial DX-120, Vodavi XTS,--just to name a few.

The SUPPORT is more important than a particular brand of system. Good Luck.

Hmmm never thought of that. Any recommendation on a two line phone. Well the client also wants to transfer calls from one phone to another. Can a two line phone do that.

An Avaya Partner ACS system would also do the trick.

4-18 button Display Telephones.

I think an Avaya system is overkill plus the cost. Looking for something very simple.

If your customer doesn't need new..I can set you up with a Comdial system with 4 display phones.
J 408 (4 lines x 8 stations) and 4 of the Comdial 8312S

it's still a little overkill, but the price is right.
I'll pm pricing

The questions you needs to know first are:
  • How many CO lines
  • How many Extensions
  • What Features are required
  • What Features are on the Wish List
  • Are cordless phones needed
  • Who will be programming the system: </font><ul type="square">
  • <font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">Today
  • Tomorrow

</font></li>
[*]What other sort of ancillary equipment
  • <font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">Fax
  • Modem-Internet Access
  • Credit Card Machine

</font></li>
[*]Should the ancillary equipment be
  • <font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">Dedicated
  • Share a CO line

</font></li></ul><font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">
And of course is voice mail needed or will a simple answering machine work just fine? Or what about an answering machine with three or four mail boxes.

It is difficult to tell you a viable answer without knowing the customers needs and expectations.

Along the line of 1-4 line KSU-less systems you might want to look into Panasonic or AT&T...and then if you do need a larger KSU, say 6 lines and 16 telephones..both analog and digital...look into a Panasonic 6x16. You can also buy these on the WEB from different sources.

Here is a page from the Panasonic Help page that might be of programming interest:

https://www.panasonichelp.com/

No, I do not sell Panasonic KSU's, nor do I have a vested interest... but for some customers they have the better bang for the buck.

My suggestion to to get as much DETAIL from your customers "Needs and Expectations" prior to making your own decision as to what is best for them.

If you haven't already, it appears you need more information from your customer.
