I am trying to setup voicemail on an Elite 48 with VMS(4)-U10 for enabling the returning of a call while in voicemail. I have selected the voicemail setup options in Cosessions for Caller ID display and redial from Caller ID for each mailbox; however, the Caller ID does not display while retrieving voicemails. The Caller ID does display on inbound calls. I would appreciate help on how to set this up.
Thanks

Check your software revision on the VMS. It has to be Q01131 or higher to make this feature work.
If your Q version is less, check with your NEC supplier to get the upgrade.
You can check the Q revision from the manager's mailbox, or through cosession connection.
Good luck.

you will also need to set up lcr in order for the callback to work as it should.
this requires a mifm card, kmm chip, & the lcr programming software. not to mention setting it all up.

I recently replaced the hard drive on the VMS and it is Version Q01131. The Caller ID Callback wasn't even displayed as an option on the previous hard drive which was older firmware. I have an MIFM and KMM. Caller ID scrolling and callback is functioning on inbound calls. Caller ID isn't even displayed when retrieving Voice Mail. I question whether or not this function evens works in the Elite.

I assume that your talking about a Elite VMS with a hard disk not one with a flash ROM??
If a hard disk version. In our region the first of these to have “Caller Return” was software version 6.68 Q010131.
Provided that in the mailbox access code bits 1 & 3 are set CLID inbound and Caller return are enabled CLID and Caller return works
LCR should not be needed for Caller Return as in the switch setup (CTL + S) line 9 “Return Call Out Dial Access” is where you put any access or steering codes in to return the call. From what I have seen of this function it is pointless for a user with a Dterm as the method of accessing the Caller Return menu is too difficult compared to that of an analog phone user or the “Call Sender” feature of Meridian Mail plus it ties up VMS ports while this call takes place..
