Some have different power supplies and trunking is different in most cases. Also many countries use E-1 (32 channels) instead of T1.

Just out of curriuosity, how are all the gray market pannys and avayas come back and work in the US?
Or do I have a wrong understanding or gray market equipment? (my unerstanding is that these mfs sell units to exporters who are SUPPUSED to send them over seas, but turn around and resell them to the US market.)

I have bought canadian pana before from tequest didnt know it at the time. Everything programs the same just the software from panasonic lets you know the country code is incorrect. A few of the features are a little different also.

Samsung also has a country code that must be set. Comdial had a switch on the power supply the could change from 120VAC 60 Hz to 250VAC 50 Hz. Some trunk cards have switch settings or software settings. DID trunk cards are usually different as well as E-1 vs. T-1 boards. Also plugs on the power cord is different.

The software for Avaya Definity(and the newer names of Definity such as "Call Manager") products was made the same throughout the world years back. The feature set is the same, but different features are used in different parts of the world. Different power supplies are also sometimes used too. The E-1 standard for Europe is available in the USA, but only for a 'campus' non external uses. On another note, this is my first posting in this forum, and I am going to have to control myself "to not post any material which is knowingly false and/or defamatory, inaccurate, abusive, vulgar, hateful, harassing, obscene, profane, sexually oriented, threatening, invasive of a person's privacy, or otherwise violative of any law/", because that is against my nature, but I will do my best. :-P
