I just purchased a used VMS system, 2 port(er). Its in slot 6, programmed as a VMS4 per specs in 7-1. Stations 17-20 appear in programming, I assigned them CLS 00 (?) and extensions 300 and 301. I can hear the drive whirrin, all the lights seem kosher. Live is flashing, port lights are off, MB is red, BLCR is green. When I dial 300, [error] appears on the screen. In addition, is there a way to manage this thing WITHOUT Cosessions, considering it wasn't included? Thanks! )

Is this an external system? Did you enable the external VM?

Alright, I got the settings right. I forgot 7-2. All I'm concerned about now is this CoSessions business.

You can add, delete and reset passwords for mailboxes, Change the opening greetings, set the schedule times and some other things via the system managers box.
If you want to get fancy and use one key dialing in menus and use transaction boxes, Yes you will need the software.

Yeah, I'm having a doosey of a time connecting to this beast..
I grabbed a term cable DB-9, added a Null modem adapter, plugged her into COM1, set to 19200, 8, N, 1, Hardware.. and nothing.
She's running because I can dial her up and I've got all the right lights. All SW1s are set to OFF.
Any suggestions?

Yep Paul is right about the baud rate.
You also use a Null modem cable.
