Where to begin? I am upgrading from an Electra Elite 48 to a used 192 to add stations. I have never worked with this system before, so I'm learning it as I do this major upgrade. Also, I don't have the software, so I'm programming this beast via a terminal. Tons of fun! The 192 has an earlier version of the ROM (3.11 I believe), so not all memory blocks are the same, but I have copied most of the parameters by hand to the 192 correctly enough for internal use (all stations assigned correctly, internal dial tone present). The problem is I cannot get a dial tone on an outside line. I arranged my boards this way to keep me from rewiring my existing blocks:

CPU slot: CPU board
ISA slot: empty
Slot 1: empty
Slot 2: empty
Slot 3: VMS-(4) Voice Mail board
Slot 4: ESI-(8)board
Slot 5: ESI-(8)board
Slot 6: ESI-(8)board
Slot 7: COI-(8) board
Slot 8: ESI-(8) board

(This 192 unit also came used with a DTI-U10/30 card in the ISA slot - it was not present in my 48 unit, but is it a necessary component in the 192?)

According to MB 7-1, my first bank of ESI ports start at "1", my second starts at "9", my third at "17", my COI ports also begin at "17", my fourth ESI begins at "25" and my voicemail begins at "33". I configured my trunk settings (MB 3-03) to have my four incoming lines at ports 17, 18, 19, and 20. Is that correct? Have you seen any apparent problems yet? I dial "9" to access an outgoing line, and I get a fast busy signal and "ERROR" on the screen. If I hit a Line Key that is programmed for an outside line, the first time it's dead, and the second time it gives a fast busy signal and reads "BUSY". If you need more info, I'll be checking this board all day. Any and all help would be much appreciated!

1st off a 192 is a big 48. programming should be nearly the same.

the esi ports go in increments of 8 (8 per card). so esi 1=ports 1-8, esi 2=ports 9-16, and so on. when you get to your voicemail it will only have 4 ports though.

why are your co ports starting at 17 instead of 1-8?

i'd kill off the co card in 7-1 and then re-add it so that it will be ports 1-8.

next thing in 4-12 what are the co buttons programmed for? my guess would be that they are for something like co-01, co-02 etc instead of the current co17,18,19,20......

you have to EITHER have:
a>direct line appearances on a phone
or
b>have cap keys
in order to access a line.

so if you have lines 1-4 appear on buttons & have no cap keys & your lines start at 17-20, then you would have no access to trunks

Thanks for the reply, Chris. I could not assign the CO board to anything lower than 17 in the slot it's in, and I didn't feel like rewiring my blocks, so I just changed my Line Key settings in 4-12 to read CO-17, CO-18, etc. Now it's working fine. One final question, though: My auto-attendant answers calls, and transfers them to the appropriate extension, but it just rings infinitely. How do I set the system to let the call ring for a certain amount of time, and then transfer the call to the extension's voicemail?

You have to go to each of the extensions, and tell it to "call forward busy / no-answer" to the voicemail pilot.

speaker 43 (voicemail pilot) speaker

or from your reception station:

speaker 45 (your target station) (voicemail pilot) speaker

I saw "Speaker 43" in the user guide, but every time I hit the "3", I get "ERROR" and a busy signal. I have configured all phones to allow "Call Forward Busy/No Answer" in their classes in MB 1-8-08. What am I missing?

I had to program all extensions from the reception phone. There must be a restriction set that I'm not aware of. Thanks for the information, new2nec!
