A friend of mine is installing an IPS2000 in UK. He has the system pretty much up and running, but one bug he ran into is this: on any phone he picks up, the dial-tone is not a continuous tone, but it's a broken tone. It's like 2 short tones follwed by about 1/2 second pause. Then 2 short tones again, and 1/2 second pause. He can make and receive calls no problem. As I said, he is in UK. He has a PN-CP24-C processor card. My first idea was CM48,Y3, but we coulnd't find anything there that would solve the problem. He said he had this before on another IPS he installed, but he can't recall how he fixed it. I myself never ran into this, so I coulnd't really help him. Any idea?

Maybe there is a call fwd set or a message waiting. I think they both can be programmed to cause a stutter tone to start.

There is also a place to program dial tone settings, if I remember correctly. Can he dial normally once hearing the tone?

I would suggest trying the following:
482>12-14>1 483>00>03 (try 483>00>01 ??) 483>02>07 08>147>1
You should write down your old settings before making any changes.

Yes, he can dial normally, even though the dial-tone is strange. I'll have him try what you suggested, although I don't know what does CM08>147>1 has anything to do with it. Per the manual, it returns a station to the CO call after not being able to transfer it to a busy station...

Where did your friend get his system from? NEC systems in the UK now come from Philips. Philips stock comes from Holland. What you are describing is the dial tone you would expect in Holland. All Philips processors supplied in the UK market pre R12 will exhibit this behaviour. If he upgrades to R12 it will work or he can run a script available from Philips which will also do the job (Needs a Reset).
ps. This works for TDM. IP phones get covered in chapter 2.....
Remember, if you don't do it right it doesn't take as long...
