What are the disadvantages to cutting a small subset of phones down to a single CAP key? or possibly 2? I have always seem 3... but fail to understand why. Thanks!

I have always gave each user 2-3 CAP keys to allow user to make conference calls.

ok.. thank you good thought. These users are already under the impression they cant do conference calls. At that, they should be able to transfer the call/s (via call park function) to another line where the conference call could be facilitated... right? the most important function impact of concern is what if we cut it to 1 CAP... then if a call comes in, doesnt it bounce to the operator/main line/s?

CAP> Call Appearance Key. This is a place for a call to "land or, appear". If you give a station only one CAP, then, that staion can only take one call at a time. I recommend at least 2 CAP keys on a low call handling station such as your average user. This will allow the user to make a conference call. For a higher volume of calls, think of them as line keys. If the user handles an average of 6 calls at a time, then put 8 CAP keys on the station to insure another call can be answered.

great info, thanks. makes sense.
it seems as though there would be a way to associate a given CAP key with a specific CAR assignment? different functions I know... but if I could economize the (currently 3 designted) CAP keys, my problems would be solved. To have 3 LK designated exclusively CAP is a waste of space on the interface.
