Version 2.0 System Feature Enhancements for improved Call Control
Expanded Virtual Extension Functionality
• The functionality of Virtual Extensions (VE) has been expanded to support additional
features. Expanding the functionality of VEs improves the usage and expands the
value of these software extensions. More consistent operation reduces end user
confusion and training time.
T.38
• T.38 is an International Telecommunication Union standard for sending faxes over
an IP Network. A Fax machine scans a document, converts the words into tones and
sends the data represented by tones to another fax machine. The distant end Fax
machine reverses this process. The T.38 standard that insures that the fax sounds
are correctly converted to data when using IP lines during this process.
NITS
• Originally released in January 2004 for the Electra Elite IPK, the NEC
interactive telephone simulator allowed salespeople and trainers to
demonstrate the full value of the Electra Elite IPK solution. Using the NITS
simulator device, a telephone and computer with a USB port many features of
the Electra Elite IPK were emulated. The software for this device has been
updated to include support for the Electra Elite IPK II. Existing units in the field
will require a software upgrade.

• This expanded functionality features set now includes:
• Barge-in to a busy Virtual Extension
• Conference Call
• Handset Mute
• Reverse Voice Over
• Tone Override to a busy Virtual Extension
• Voice Call/Privacy Release
• Voice Override to a busy Virtual Extension
• A call which is initiated or answered on a Virtual Extension (talking on the
Key) can be Quick Transferred to Voice Mail.
• Caller ID for transferred calls to a virtual extension that is programmed to ring
will be displayed. Prior to this version, Caller ID would not be displayed.
Ring Group Enhancement
• With version 2.x, when a Ring Group call rings into a station, a BLF Indication for this
station will show idle. Prior to this Version, the BLF Indication would show busy,
often creating confusion for the attendant and other uses who erroneously believed
the ringing telephones were all off hook on a call.
Directory Dialing Enhancement
• Extensions (including Virtual Extensions) can be removed from the Extension
Directory list based on a new Class of Service option. Prior to this version, installed
extensions and Virtual Extensions with a Name Assigned would always appear in the
Extension Directory list when using the display scrolling feature. A reduced number
of displayed extensions will improve employee efficiency by only viewing the used
and or selected extensions. Selective entries in the directory allow key executives to
have “unpublished” private extensions or virtual extensions.
Station Name / Number Display
• The Station Number and Name can be removed from the display when the phone is
idle based on new Class of Service options. Prior to this Version, the Station Number
and Name was always displayed when the phone was idle.
Call Park – Step Call
• Version 2.0 supports the ability to perform a Call Park/Step Call by pressing the hold
or transfer key followed by a single key to access call park and find an idle park
location. Prior to this Version each park location required a manual entry to
determine if it was idle. Step call will improve efficiency.
10s group Numbering
• Version 2.x supports station numbers to be assigned by the 10’s group for 4-digit
station numbers, 100’s group for 5-digit station numbers, 1,000’s group for 6-digit
station numbers, and 10,000’s group for 7-digit station numbers. The 10s group
number was not supported prior to V2000. This will expand flexibility for system
numbering.
Message Waiting Lamp Programmable flash Rate
• Version 2.x allows the Message Waiting Lamp’s flash rate and color (red or green) to
be programmable. This provides more distinction between incoming calls, Message
Waiting (Set/Received) and a VM Message Waiting indication.
Dual page support on the DSS/BLF doubles the value!
• A new shift key assigned on the Direct Stations Selection Console (DSS) module
expands the capacity to two pages.
With Version 2.x, a Direct Station Selection (DSS) Console can be assigned a
shift key to expand the capacity of a console. Two pages (or sheets) are
available. In Page 1 mode, keys 01 ~ 54 are available for DSS/BLF function,
feature access, etc. In Page 2 mode, an additional 54 keys (keys 01 ~ 54) are
available for DSS/BLF function, feature access, etc. Keys 55 ~ 60 do not shift. A
total of 113 keys are available when using the Page key (54 + 54 + 6 - 1 = 113).
Improved features/applications
InACD
• Improved call control and User Experience
• With Version 2.0 a caller in an ACD queue can dial out of the queue while
listening to a VRS delay announcement message. This improves the user
experience and reduces the number of abandoned calls by offering callers a
choice. Prior to this version a caller was forced to either remain in queue or hang
up.
• A remote K-CCIS user can call, or transfer a call directly to an ACD Pilot number.
Prior to this version, this type of call or transfer was not allowed. Version 2.0
improves the customer experience by eliminating the need to hang up and call a
different number. This improves the efficiency of InACD in multi-site locations.
• Improved and expanded Reporting
o ACD calls which overflow and are answered outside the original group are
counted as an overflowed call in the MIS software. Prior to this version, an
overflowed call was counted as an abandoned call.
PC Attendant and PC Assistant
• Expanded functionality with an Outlook plug that allows dialing functions from within
Outlook. If you wish to use your Outlook to dial the phone number, simply select the
contact from outlook or from a screen pop and click on the new dial icon included on
the tool bar of the PC Attendant / Assistant.
PC Attendant
• Quick Message to Telephone LCD
• Quick Message functionality has been expanded to use the phone
LCD display and soft keys to receive and respond to messages.
• The Electra Elite IPK II Version 2.x supports two interface protocols for Property
Management Integration (PMS): NEAX® Protocol (Model 90) and KTS i protocols.
This integration is accomplished using the new PMS-U10 unit. The PMS-U10 unit
resides between the system and property management system and provides the
communication link between the two systems. Using the Model 90 protocol is
consistent with NEC PBX products and can help reduce confusion in the market,
eliminate the need for re-training and offers a consistent PMS interface across our
product line.
• The dual page support for the DSS Console (discussed above) is beneficial to hotels
when using the console to view room status, wake up calls and check in/out mode.
This may reduce the total number of consoles purchased
Improved IP Pad card Efficiency results in lower costs!
Version 2.0 expands the value of IP with improved efficiency. Version 2.0 supports the
combined functionally of a “MG” and “K-CCIS over IP” and "SIP Stations/trunks" on one
PVA Card. A shared PVA card reduces Hardware Costs and improves system real
estate.
The IP Resource CD will now offer a choice during the set up mode. When used on the
IPK II with CPU Version 2.0, up to 24 channels can be supported for MG (the previous
maximum was 16). Earlier CPU versions will continue to support 16 channels.
8 Digit Numbering
Megaco IP telephones with CPU Version 2.x can now supports 8-digit Extension
Numbering. This improved numbering plan allows for greater flexibility when configuring
networks. A Megaco phone firmware upgrade or soft phone upgrade is required to
support 8-digit numbering and is available as a download from the NEC Unified
Solutions web site.
SNMP
• SNMP (simple network management protocol) is a Layer 7 or Application Layer
protocol that is used by network management systems. SNMP is used to constanly
monitor devices attached to a network and helps identify items that require
investigation. The IPK II/2U systems attached to a network with Version 2.0 software
now support SNMP and supports Alarm monitoring for CPU-II, PRI, BRI, SLI, COI,
PVA, InMail and BSU circuits. The appeal and benefit of SNMP is that system
maintenance and monitoring is performed though a central location and/or IT
department. Version 2.0 includes this capability as a standard application. A MIB
definition file will be provided for use with an SNMP manager. (locally provided)
• SNMP provides for improved service with improved troubleshooting tools and
quicker response times. This improves your long term customer relationship.
SNMP also offers reseller revenue opportunities by offering monitoring services
as part of the overall system sale.
